Sadomasochistic imagery, most particularly bondage, has been employed in many pop music videos in the past two decades, from Madonna’s videos for “Erotica” (1992) and “Human Nature” (1995) to Christina Aguilera’s video for “Not Myself Tonight” last year. Rihanna is the most current artist to turn to the BDSM world for creative inspiration. In her video for her appropriately titled single “S&M,” Rihanna walks Perez Hilton around on a leash, whips a bound reporter and is shown tied up and rolling around the floor.
